RIP, Thin White Duke

David Bowie: 1947-2016

I can’t deal with this at the moment. I just can’t.

Later in the week I’ll do a write up on my thoughts for The Hateful 8 and The Revenant, but today I’m just not in the mood.

I’d like to believe that, rather than dying, the Space Oddity went Home.

My thoughts are with his family and friends.

He went home – that’s what I think, too, but he’ll be sorely missed. In my tribute, I wrote rest in peace, but I think he’s probably meeting old friends and making new ones…
    the world feels colourless today.

He certainly would. CNN wrote that ‘Planet Earth is Blue’ and that is absolutely true for me.
We have his creations, at least!

I felt the rawness in your short post. The tributes are coming in thick and fast, but yours is the one that I most identify with.
You are so right – we have his ctreations, and we’re so much richer for it.

Thank you so much! You’re right about the tributes coming so fast – I can’t look at the internet for too long right now.
I wasn’t the most dedicated Bowie fan, and I’ve never even seen him live, but knowing he was out there, with his indefinable beauty, grace, and creativity, always made me feel less alone in my own weirdness.
I hope you are doing okay today.

As someone reminded me, we still have everything he did close to hand, so yes, I’m fine – just processing it, along with millions of others people today.

This mans music has been a part of my life since my formative years. M truly going to miss him.

    • jennnanigans January 11, 2016 at 9:01 am #

Me too. I grew up hearing his name and knowing his face, just like Michael Jackson.
It’s funny how people you never meet can be part of your personal world. 😦

  3. I grew up listening to his music and when I woke up this morning and heard the news it was as though an old friend had died. 😦

    • jennnanigans January 12, 2016 at 8:31 am #

Exactly – he never knew my name and I never even saw him life but he was one of those faces on the landscape of my personal history. We still have his work, but it’s just not the same! 😦

... but what do YOU think?
